Paid Directory Listings Program
December 14, 2009 by chuckaikens
Directory Listings are a good way to promote your website and while there are 1000s of free (or reciprocal link) directories, our recommendation is to focus on obtaining directory listings from the best directories. The only downside to this strategy is that the best directories require payment for inclusion.
To get started, we recommend starting with the following 4 directories:
- Yahoo! Directory - Annual Cost $299

- Best of the Web – Annual Cost $149
- Business.com – Annual Cost $299
- Go Guides - One Time $69
There are lots of websites that rank all of the Paid Directories that are available:
- http://www.seocompany.ca/directory/top-web-directories.html
Based on our experience with specific Paid Directories, we recommend establishing a $250 budget (we spend approximately $150 on actual submission fees and charge $100/month for processing) for an extended period of time and slowly submitting to a combination of General, Industry, Niche, and Location based Directories based on your specific business or website profile.
For this extended submission process, we primarily promote your primary domain name (www.domain.com recommended) using a variety of different anchor text to support targeted keywords. If requested, we can also support individual pages on your website in place of the primary domain or even promote individual pages only. During this process, we will also attempt to locate and submit to very specialized directories that are usually more relevant than the general directories.
A Paid Directory Listing strategy is a great addition to your Online PR campaign, but we encourage this type of activity as an additional link building activity. You don’t want to rely on just one method for a link building strategy.
Our Link Building Campaigns cover social bookmarking, article marketing, and blog post syndication and can be combine with Paid Directory Listings or other forms of Online PR like Press Release Submissions, Web 2.0 Content, or Social Profile Marketing.
